Rowan Oak and Ole Miss What an awesome day! After it took two hours to get ready and out the door.... (with 5 kids in the house, it is almost guaranteed that someone will be unhappy or in trouble or hurt at all times). We went to Rowan Oak to hike and tour the grounds. The trail was shady and fun with an activity card that led to a very silly game of leap frog. Many thanks to Hope for being a ...

Hey Y'all from the Magnolia State! We're still in Mississippi, and it's still muggy. We're here because this is a town that James passed through while he was in the Navy, 20 plus years ago. He remembered it as a beautiful small town and idyllic - he was right, especially if you like to fish crappie. Again, we lucked out and found a great spot at a virtually empty campground at Grenada Lake. Had a ...

I have discovered that I love the Megabus and I hate the Greyhound! the strange thing is the megabus is nicer and cheaper! it has free wifi, and plug sockets, and so far Ive always had 2 seats to myself! the Greyhound is packed full of people, is more expensive and just generally horrible! AND they charged me an extra $30 for my suitcase! arghhhhhhhh!
So I had been up all night on 2 different buses, and finally arrived in Grenada where I was picked up by ...

After begneits and coffee at Café Du Monde, we unhooked the umbilical cord(s) from the French Quarter RV Park and backtracked through Baton Rouge north to Natchez, Mississippi. Natchez is the beginning of the ancient Natchez Trace Parkway. The Natchez Trace (trail) has been used since prehistory as a trading route from Natchez north to Nashville.

The National Park Service maintains the Parkway as a scenic drive for ...

Today, we have an easy schedule of only 80 miles riding. So with that in mind, along with the still steady drizzle soaking the bikes and roads, I decided to sleep in. Once underway, the rain lingered for about the first half of the ride, finally giving way to clear skies. We rolled into our destination, Oxford, Mississippi, before noon.

Oxford is best known as the home of the University of Mississippi, i.e. Ole Miss, and the segregation riots that ...
