Monday, July 6, 2015. PCT day 78 miles 1189.2-1198 Today is a nero day. I slept in until 06:30 and left camp by 0730. The trail was all downhill, 8.5 miles into Sierra City, which is at 4200 feet elevation. It definitely felt warmer/hotter down here. I arrived here by 11:30ish. The small town is only about a mile from the trail. I set up camp by the local church. I had my cold shower ...

However, the trail finally opened up again while hiking on this ridge. Definitely not the place to ...

... other lakes. I love lakes and love how the Sierra is full of them. The dark thunderclouds that were building throughout the day, conglomerated enough to begin pouring rain and unleash some thunder. I hiked with Wallaby (an older Australian fella in his 60/70s) for a while. But I left him unwittingly in the steep climb over Dick's Pass. Once over Dick's Pass, it is mostly downhill past some lakes and into a dark forest where I finally found a campsite near Phipps ...

... thru and no bathroom/showers on this level.

Lower section has pull-thru sites and some tent sites. There are some permanent residents here, too, and they are also very nice. This is also where the showers are located and they are a long walk from the upper level.

Laundry – No

Bathroom/Showers – Lower level

Pool – very clean, not heated, nice BBQ area with several ...
