And this is NOT A SURF TRIP!! Haha!

Spending the next week in Raglan with Ash & Jord. Planning a bit of touring around these here parts with a bit of surfing thrown in!

Ended up being the other way round. I spent a fair amount of time with the zoom lens focused on one wave or another but managed to have a ball from the shore. I think the others also had a ball.

We woke to driving rain and wind in Piha ...

2nd March - Waitomo are the famous glow work caves that everyone had heard about. Being the poor travellers we are, decided to drive past the caves and go to the free ones 25km further down the road. Marakopa waterfall was the first thing we came across. ... a tent here, stay in a tipi, pull up a camper van, stay in individual recycled railway cars or a more modern unit with bed, bath and kitchen (only 2 of those). We are in traincar #6. With it we have shared bathroom and kitchen facilities. I would never dream of staying in a place in the states where I had to share a bathroom but in this country it is so normal. And such a rich experience. The showers are near the kitchen and while showering tonight ...

Paihia, and why Canadians hate dolphins

... pretty cool. They were just kind of milling around having a wee feed on the fish on the reef. They were bigger than the ones in Fiji as these were bottle nose dolphins and not common dolphins. Brett's hatred of dolphins stems from their liking of sex. Dolphins are the only other animal that a has sex for fun. Because of this there is a massive problem in the dolphin community with rape. Males get a shot of testosterone and's on. The females are constant ...
