... buy any more Tiffany's jewellery!
At this point, I decide to turn in for the evening because I have been up for what feels like a million years, and I keep on falling asleep on the metro because the seats are super comfortable! Tomorrow, onto Bangkok!!!
One last note: apparently people DO think I look Japanese, because I am getting constantly spoken to in Japanese, by strangers, and people in shops, and the restaurant and my ...
... Finally, we took the metro back to our place. Metro is full of people texting non stop, but it is strictly forbidden to talk or make beeping noise. Most of them fall asleep anyway, even next to a pillar waiting for the next train or totally out of it at the end of the line!!! As we arrived late and had to get up early, we chose the cheapest option of the love hotel, the "business" room, which is just a plain room. No karaoke, jacuzzi and revolving bed tonite!!
... but spread out over a far greater distance. And probably with higher watt bulbs. To combat this, we went to a place called Hobgoblin for our first stop - a British style pub! One five-pound pint and some pub-grub later and we were on the road again. This time stopping off at Gas Panic, a club described by the Rough Guide as the "sleazy side of Tokyo" and a "place everyone should visit at least once". We did. It was ...
Tokyo, Kanto, Japan uglymaggott... history behind the attack, and discusses the role of war in the world, but the strongest point is the attack itself. Back out in the sunshine, we get some lunch and wander up to the stroll garden of Shukkeien. A beautiful reconstruction with all kinds of wildlife. Then back to Kyoto on the train. The next day, we meander our way back to Tokyo, passing round the back of Mount Fuji on the train. Catching glimpses of Japan`s highest mountain as we go. Back in the ...
Tokyo, Kanto, Japan bastin79... to take a different route home so we boarded the water taxi in Asakusa and floated (powered of course) on down the Sumida River to Hinode Pier which is at the mouth of the river. From there a couple of trains rides later we were back home & putting our 7 lucky gods into their treasure craft where they are working hard to bring their treasures of health, wealth, good fortune, and happiness to us and all of our friends throughout this year.
Tokyo, Japan jp2005... haha) Verder hebben we de rosse buurt bekeken (hoewel we niet zeker wisten OF dat de rosse buurt was, het zag er allemaal een stuk keuriger uit dan in Nederland). Morgen onze laatste dag alweer in Tokyo.
Tokyo, Japan nienke78... There were 4 mattresses on the floor, each with fluffy down comforters and down pillows. The bathroom was a tiny box and the total size of the room is comparable to a small camper. This was about 11PM and we walked around until 2:30AM. What a tiring day!! Good thing I slept for 12 hours the night before. We took an MK taxi to Gion, which is considered "Geishaland". We walked down the narrow streets, passing traditional Geisha houses. I ...
Kyoto, Japan mandy13082... like London, is made up of tons of different areas, all connected by underground - or other trains. We're currently staying in a place called Shinjuku, which is quite nice, but as not as nice as some other's. The night I flew in, we travelled from the airport to Shinjuku and arrived at about 11pm. We had to walk around, in the dark, for nearly 2 hours looking for somewhere to stay! With my big case! What people fail to mention to you about Japan, is that they DON'T actually ...
Tokyo, Japan danilovescats... Angeles we went back some 3 hours (I think) and then somewhere between Honolulu and Tokyo...*BAM* imaginary date line. I went from going back in time to like...jumping ahead the next day. I flew for 10 hours in straight daylight the entire time. THAT messed with my system a lil' bit! Made it to Tokyo just fine though. I was so glad to be on solid ground...so glad that I didn't have to take another plane somewhere! One thing that hit me right away was the heat and humidty. MAN it ...
Tokyo, Japan athena... expensive housing estate really. Had picked up a flyer about Odaiba so decided to go there. Took the monorail to Odaiba, which was pretty expensive at almost double the price of regular subway tickets, but a good laugh with joke about loop-the-loops. Saw that there was a huge ferris wheel so thought it'd be cool to go on that but with serious money saving going on for tonight it was far too expensive. To get to the ferris wheel you had to go through a Toyota garage which weirdly had a ...
