I cannot tell you how many times I’ve been scolded by my parents for taking my car out and driving to the most “stupid”, “useless”, “unnecessary”, and my favorite “dopey” (I don’t know who the heck uses that word anymore) places. They’ll claim I’m wasting my money on gas, I risk getting into accidents, I’m running my car into the ground monetarily with frequent oil ...
... but it didn't work out on either end. Hopefully the photos that made it up on Facebook at both events generate some interest and ticket sales...Mother Nature just wasn't havin' it today!
We spent the night in the parking lot, lulled to sleep by the fierce rain outside. Thankfully the next morning was overcast, but dry and after taking showers at the Y and catching up on some internet-related business, we were on our way.
... me. A life lesson that would have been lost on me when i was younger. I am glad that i am now old enough to understand it and, more importantly, appreciate it. That lesson is the kind of "gift" that i think is relative during the Christmas season.
Also,the gift of family and friends who give me limitless support, understanding and compassion is something that i will always cherish and never take for granted. For that, i am truly grateful.
