... lovely. Just normal small town folks all with a story and very content in their lives. The temperature did not get above zero until 1pm but the sun was shining so it was not so bad. We drove 475km today. The first 150km on freeway at 120+km/hr which was a dream. Still lots of trucks but the cruise control may have been disengaged twice for the whole length. Then after fuel we were off to a smaller road but just as good. ...

Today marked the start of my two-day Leader of the Day stint along with Zach and Emma, which meant it was our responsibility to have a RAD Plan written for our route, our groups ready to go on-time, and to ensure that we safely reach the X. I had been excited for days to operate in this capacity, as leadership practice was one of the main reasons I decided to go on this trip. After another wonderful breakfast of hash browns and cheese and a 1st ...

      D19: MORE FOOD!

... sent in for myself and 2 fruit snacks. I didn't know how great it could feel without a constant worry of lack of food, the next few days be damned. I don't mean to go on and on about hunger, nor do I wish to give the impression that I was in any physical danger from hunger pangs as some people in this world truly are. It's just that many days of hiking and calorie expenditure without adequate replacement can get to a man, that's all.
