It was muggy and buggy as I left Glidden this morning with my stomach full of Maura's special recipe, oatmeal: laden with flax, hemp, chia seeds and with a sprinkle of unsweetened coconut to power me through to the next feeding. One of the deer's rear hooves clipped my side mirror and knocked it askew. When we got stopped I checked for damage, but it was just the mirror out of adjustment. I think we were very lucky. Our little car wouldn't survive a collision with a deer at speed. Tonight we are in Ironwood, MI. There isn't much to say about Ironwood I'm afraid. Karen and ...

... night we hung by the fire with our new friends, who we will continue to keep in touch with, and maybe even meet them out on the road during the year.

Unfortunately we missed a lot of what the Porcupines had to offer in the backcountry via backpacking, but the park is well worth a trip for anyone who is looking for remote wilderness, steeper terrain and beautiful waterfalls. We have already decided our next trip here will include a backpacking trip to more remote areas. ...
