Walking around Saigon

... Palace and a beautiful park in the heart of the city. We practiced buying and eating (enjoyed that). The food is amazing; and cheap. We had dinner in a nice restaurant - local food of course - and plus tips it came to about $16 or $17 AUD for both of us.

An unforgettable tour to the Cu Chi tunnels...

... so I didn't bother. What really surprised me was how bloody loud real guns are: we were sat at a cafe stupidly located right next to the firing range, and the noise was ridiculous!

After we'd had a drink, we finally went down the tunnels. We went down some steps, then into a tunnel that was quite narrow, which after a few metres then then sloped downw into an even narrower tunnel. There were lights placed every ten metres or so, but aside from these it was pitch black ...

GoOd MoRnInG Vietnam!

... Though I could never live here -- too busy! -- it's very fun and energetic and the people are so friendly!

A girl seeing my confusion helped me find my way by leaving her t-shirt stall to walk me down the road to make sure I made it to where I was headed. The streets here are at least for me, very confusing seeing my hesitation or sheer fear, a sweet and giggly old man who spoke zeeero English kindly grabbed me by my arm and ran me across an impossible ...

How crossing Ho Chi Min becomes fun!!

... whole way down and burping. But fun to see and to hear, not the smelling tough. but the Vietnamese border showed up, and I was ready to meet My Vietnamese Sister From My Mother on that side. But no...all smooth and cheerfull. Just step out of the bus, collect your bags, get inside the terminal and wait till your name will be called. Okay that made it a bit tricky as our names are not really Viet-Names. Can you pronounce our names in Vietnamese..?? But I think that the look of our ...

First impressions...

... was an experience to say the least. It is the oldest remaining market in Saigon. The space to walk down shops is tight tight, and the smells from everything is trapped inside the large building. The stands varied from clothing, to souvenirs, to many types of food. We couldn’t stay very long because it was too much to take.

After leaving we still had time to kill so we decided to get lunch at a hole in the wall restaurant to get ...

Last Night in Vietnam

... times and relaxing, we figure you still need a day to watch movies and vegg out during a month long trip. As part of this, we decided to treat ourselves to some delivery pizza at the hotel. After saying "cheese only" on the phone around 7 times, we finally had a "medium" pizza heading our way. As you'll see in the photo album below, their medium turned out to be smaller than a personal pizza back in the U.S. We made due and rested ...

water park frenzy

... lots of interesting architecture. We did some of the usual activities.... spent some time at the war remnants museum...... it has changed quite a bit from my last visit. Now a much more slick presentation... it still tells the same tragic tale it told before, with a little extra shine. We also checked out some temples.... and even went on a little boat trip through the mangroves... watched the locals harvesting clay from the banks. We ended ...
