... winter in earnest with a 3 day, 1400 mile drive to New Mexico on I-10. We expect dry, sunny weather. Glad we hunkered down here today during this storm. We hope to make it to Las Cruces by Wednesday afternoon to pick up my new camera at a UPS store. We plan stop in Baton Rouge Trader Joes, to restock some essential supplies.

After a grueling five days of driving, it was time to find a nice campground and hang out for a few days. My plan was to stay at the state park on the beach near Destin. But the polar vortex spoiled things, so I found an RV park near Pensacola instead. ... we drove around the area and checked out the beach and walked on the pier. What we noted was that the beach sand is very white and very fine, almost like sugar. While on the pier, we saw a couple sea turtles, but no fish or dolphins. ... Rd and most of his family lives on the road. COOL! we talk for a good while with them. Greg told us a lot about showing red angus cows. When you take cows to show you give them a fro so that they look bigger than they actually are. For this effect you bath the cows often for five weeks and blow dry their hair so it stands on end. Their daughter Caitlin won a $10,000 scholarship to college from one of their competitions.
