Stopped along the way to see Capulin Volcano, one of the few that you can walk down into the interior cone. We walked about a third of the way around the rim, which was about a mile. We didn't take the walk into the interior, but looking into the area, we saw mule deer grazing on the slope. It's hard to see the depth of the interior in the pictures. It was about 1,000 feet across the rim and 350 feet deep from where we stood.
... ok. The site had thick brush all area that was not gravel road, so our view from the picnic table was the rear of Mona. Lol We took Lisa ( recently renamed toad) to Raton for a much needed bath. Then drove around Sugarite , down to the lake. Followed the road as it exited Sugarite, we entered Dortheys wildlife management in Colorado. All looked the same, but sign indicated New Mexico or Colorado. The area us nice , we lowered the windows ...
... even if there was no real sign of it. After about 3 miles the trail merged with the 2nd fence again and clearly pointed us through it. So back track to the killing zone and stayed between the two fences back to this point. Back on track and we then experienced our first bit of technical ridding. What a scream. Loads of gopro footage will be posted in due course along with the film release!! ...
... interstate junction 2 miles out of town there is all that the long distance travellers need again. Super 8, McDonalds and a couple of gas stations.
Bad news that most of Colorado appears to be on fire. Our overnight stop for tomorrow has been evacuated so there will be no off road routes we can do without risking being caught in wildfires.
Plan tomorrow is to talk to the Police and show them where we are planning to go and ask their help.

As I mentioned in the previous entry, we had to cancel our refundable airlines tickets and reschedule, which has worked out very well for us actually, as it gave us the time to fly out to New Jersey to see our moms who live very close to each other by the Jersey shore, near Point Pleasant.
