... similar plans. The view from our hotel room was incredible and so we relaxed while gazing at the picture perfect scenery overlooking the mountains. We had very limited dinner options unfortunately. The local supermarket was closed for the day and all restaurant options were out of bounds for budget travelers so we ended up at a pub that was broadcasting the champion’s league, serving chilled beer and ...

... plenty of it about... and they call this summer! Back at the bottom of the mountain we caught our tour bus to Lucerne, about 45 minutes down the road. For lunch we had a traditional Swiss meal & show that included music, yodelling, horn blowing, etc. The kids loved it. Afterwards we took a walk around town. When we finally made it to the top of the run you can see right off the side of the mountain down to the town (which is almost vertically below) and on this day we were lucky enough to be able to see both above and below the clouds, I am sure this has to be a very rare thing. The actual run was awesome but very tiring, my ...

      Day 2 in Engelberg

We went up 2000 meters (7000 ft) above the town of Engelberg on three different gondolas. One of the gondolas, our first one held 6 people. the second gondola held 80 people. We all stood along with the skiers and snowboarders as we ascended. Then we transferred to the third gondola which took us to the top of the mountain.

There was a five storey chalet at the top of the mountain. From ...
