    ... it from the seabed 30 metres at the bottom of the port. The detail and the fact that 90% of it is original is difficult to comprehend when you are standing there in the museum looking at it. What an interesting story in determination and commitment to history. I would have needed a lot of rum to stay warm in those days...don't think I was built for the 1600's ...

Granna is famous for two things: as the home of a red and white stick candy known as peppermint rock and as the birthplace of explorer Salomon August Andree who died in an attempt to reach the North Pole by balloon. A statue of candy-maker Amalia Eriksson in the park and a large wooden balloon at the entrance to town mark these events.
