... or a stuck locker in a museum for example. Lakes and palaces are a winning combination. Stockholm is exceptionally beautiful; this morning it sparkles. Even had we not been frustrated by the weather, there is much more to see and do in this city than we had time for. We look forward to returning.

Up at 8:00 and out the door for Karlsborg on the Vattern Lake via Lacko Slott, a 13th century castle (renovated in the 17th century) just outside of Lidkoping, on Vernern Lake. ... where we were lucky enough to see an endangered red squirrel. We were greeted by a strange old couple who had an Australian flag on their deck but spoke not a word of English. But gradually through some miracle of makeshift sign-language, we understood that they were showing us which direction to walk next.
