Coda: (update on Art hubbub at Metropolitan from day before) - after having witnessed what appeared to be a flurry of unanticipated activity at the service entrance of the Metropolitan Art Museum while strolling the park (Monday), we later read that the delivery of a rare Van Gogh had been breached, and that a small (and violent) gang had made off with 2 paintings. ... you again! The climb up "Stair way to heaven", as I was told it was called by a local hiker we met on the climb up, was fun and brutal at the same time! There were some great views - even in the dark. The night hike ended at 11:11pm. We found a flat/soft.......perfect campsite, it made the long hike tonight (well, a tad under 4 miles - but that long/steep climb up in the dark - made it seem like a longer hike.) well worth the effort...........and later this ...
