This hostel was alright. The room was fine but the beds were really rickety and noisy every time you moved in them. The kitchen is big but has no appliances. It has hobs but no ovens. It does however have a really nice sun deck off from the kitchen with nice views of the lake.

The worst thing about this hostel is the noise. It is over the road from a really cheesy, crap nightclub playing horrible music. The windows let all the noise through, the hostel seriously needs to invest in some sound proofing! If you have any taste in music or any desire to sleep before 5am, think twice about staying here.

Before we set off on our trip back in June, Junior and I had struck fear into our family by alluding to the fact that we’d like to do a sky dive when we got to New Zealand. It prompted the usual response of “what the hell would you want to do that for?” but we were undeterred. All these months later, the time had come for us to …

I haven't written about New Zealand at all, mainly because I've been having the best time ever so haven't had any time to, so here goes:
I arrived in Auckland to a massive temperature shock, I'd gone from nearly 40•C to around 5! In the airport a massive security man came up to me and started grilling me about where I was staying, if I …

Had a lazy morning and then went to the library to upload my skydive video to Facebook in case I lost the USB; it took 2 and a half hours to upload! The weather was really miserable so we had a chill out and TV day. In the evening we went to the Irish bar across the road for pool and a few drinks.

This morning we visited the Te Puia geothermal reserve where we see the hot springs and the geysers erupt which is pretty cool. The tour guide hard boils some eggs for us in one of the hot springs! We also see some traditional Maori wood carving and flax weaving. We then head to Taupo and stop at the Huka Falls on the Waikato River which is where …

The Tongariro Crossing was cancelled again today due to bad weather so we went on a hike of our own. We had to walk quite a distance to even get to the site of Mount Tauhara, about an hour or so, and then it was an hour and a half of steep climbing but we finally made it and the views were amazing. We chilled out, had lunch and chatted about the …
