... choice of shows as it had wonderful reviews, lots of awards, and was written by the creators of South Park, one of our favorite shows. Obviously, tickets are expensive and hard to get. However, they do have a ticket lottery for at least 20 tickets for only 20 pounds each two hours before each show. Since there were two shows on Wednesday, matinee and evening performance, we tried for each show. No luck today. They drew for ...

... There were lots a street performers doing all sorts of things. We ate some lunch and then walked around a bit.
Afterwards we went to the British Musuem. Where we had a tour about Ancient Rome. It was a good tour but I had already known a lot of the stuff from my visit to Italy. No one really listened because they were all super tired and not many people could understand what the lady was saying but me.
We left the musuem ...

... then go to the theatre before heading to London's fancy cocktail bars to enjoy colourful drinks with umbrellas in them. How can I be worried about turning thirty when I have so much to look forward too :) I wonder what my 40/50/60 year old self will think of these thoughts? I can picture my older self reading this back and laughing at my own ignorance. But I guess I'll learn a lot of like lessons between now and then so I might as well enjoy the journey of wisdom. Historical Traveler Reviews Barclay House London

    Elegant and Homey-the Barclay House

    from

We began a long UK holiday with three days at the Barclay House. Charlotte made us feel most welcome and had many suggestions for interesting days out, including less-visited museums and atmospheric pubs. We enjoyed walking through the neighborhood and had a wonderful evening cooking dinner in her kitchen and eating on the rooftop garden/balcony while watching the sun set over London. We were fortunate to catch a jazzy rehearsal with Charlotte on the keyboard as she and friends practised for an evening musical gathering. That was a real treat. The B&B is located in a quiet neighborhood, near a tube stop, restaurants and shops. It is well-appointed, comfortable and a great home base for seeing London.

    Home from Home

    from

We stayed for two nights and found it very comfortable. There is something nice about being able to flop down into a comfy sofa after a days sightseeing. The hosts make you part of the family from the moment you arrive. When it's nice and sunny you can chill out at the rooftop garden. Easy access to all of London by Bus or Tube nearby.

Just a pity we didn't get to share a Soda with you Adrian :-)

    A lovely relaxing break.

    Soiree Musicale - Barclay style!

    from

The prospect of reasonably priced accomodation in London, with home made muffins for breakfast and opportunities for music making - too good to be true, surely? Not so. Charlotte and Adrian were the perfect hosts. From the glass of sherry when we arrived to the famous cranberry-orange muffins for breakfast and jamming the night away, we were truly made to feel at home. The house is elegant and characterful and within easy walking distance of Fulham broadway. The first night we had a mouth-watering and amazingly good value Lebanese meal, but we could have chosen from a range of other cuisines all within 5-10 minutes walk. All in all a relaxing and delightful stay. We will certainly be making a return visit.

    A home away from home

    from

From the very first contact by e-mail until we had to say goodbye after 4 nights, we felt most welcome and at ease at Barclay house. We had made some plans for our visit to London already before arrival, but with Charlotte´s helpful tips we successfully filled the gaps (theatres, restaurants, where to go, what to see). Fulham Broadway is just 3 min walk away, and from there it´s easy to reach all of London. The neighbourhood felt safe and quiet. Breakfast was great: fresh fruits, muesli, yogurt and delicious french toast - not one meal was the same. For the first time, we also enjoyed live music in a B&B! On the evening we arrived, Charlotte and her fiends played us some nice tunes from the American songbook. And the singing and playing (and champagne!) on my birthday was a real treat! Our room was rather small but nicely decorated. We had full use of the sitting room, where we enjoyed talking with our hostess about our adventures in London. It really was a home away from home.

    Cheers to Barclay House!

    from

From the moment we arrived our host Charlotte made us feel welcome. Our room was nicely decorated and felt warm and relaxing, it was not large however, very cozy with a comfortable double bed, large armoire, waffle bathrobes and fresh towels. Charlotte was immensely helpful and pointed us in the right direction each day as well as provided maps and umbrellas. At the end of each day we were welcomed home by our host who was eager to hear about all of the exciting details of our day exploring London. Breakfasts were always a treat with homemade jams, fresh squeezed juice and delicious sconces, muesli cereal, yoghurt, tea and coffee. The area is nice and safe with a variety of shops, restaurants and pubs (if you like Mexican or Spanish food check out El Metro, a fantastic Spanish restaurant a 5 min. walk away) the Tube was right around the corner and easy to find and travel on. The sitting room was a nice bright room to relax in at the end of the day with a glass of wine and to socialize with other guests or our host. The other fantastic bonus to staying at the Barclay Road B&B is the musical talents of our host and her male partner, we really enjoyed the music played for us as well as hearing Charlotte practice after breakfast as we got ready for our days out. At the end of our stay we felt like old friends and would certainly stay here again, and recommend it to others looking for a nice place to stay in London. Cheers to Barclay Road!

    The special experience

    from

Barclay house is conveniently located in a quiet area near Fulham Broadway station. The accomodation is comfortable and it almost feels like returning home in the evening. Moreover, Charlotte has a delicious continental breakfast to offer and is always helpful with tips on what to do in London. I really enjoyed my stay there.

    A great find!

    from

Having just stayed there for two nights, I wished it could have been longer. The hostess, Charlotte is extremely gracious and I have to say I would've stayed longer, just for the breakfast that she serves up! You won't get anything like this anywhere else in London.

One of the best B&Bs I've been to. Beautiful house, great hospitality and atmosphere, fine and quiet location. Charlotte Dexter, the owner, is very helpful and full of ideas. A true gem!
