We set off from La Paz to cross Lake Titicaca and the border into Peru. Lake Titicaca sits between Bolivia and Peru and is 3,812 meters above sea level, making it the highest commercially navigable lake in the world. We were told that we would be getting a ferry across the lake. My English thinking led me to believe that it would be a ferry you would get back at home that the cars drive onto and off we go; I had obviously forgotten where we were! I don't know what had come over me. We disemba...
Puno, Peru nickandbev... that's a co-incidence that his first name is President and he is a President or if he just got really motivated to become one because of the name. Anywhoo, Colin and I were close enough to take him out and we did discuss it. And I don't mean for a nice spot of dinner and a drink. I mean take him out as Tony Soprano would understand it. We would be doing the world a huge favour and would surely become heroes. Well, possibly martyrs. But we thought it best to let him ...
Puno, Peru dantheeducator... the parallel bars mid-full body swing and smashes neck first into the crash pad, but then brings a certain grace to it by standing up and half bowing to the judges and crowd; making you wonder, "hmm, that looked a little weird but she seems okay and confident with what happened.... maybe that was on purpose." and so after eating it ******* the concrete and skidding several yards, naturally my mind went right to little (broken ankle gymnast) from the 96 summer olympics, and i bounced up ...

Olah!!
We arrived in Puno the day before yesterday after an 8 hour day bus journey from Cusco.
It is a week of national holidays here as the town of Puno was founded on the 4th November some time in the 15th century. In other words, everything is closed. Sort of good though as I get to sleep!!
Yesterday morning we left on a sloooooooow motorboat bound for Taquile Island on Lake Titikaka. The ...
... it off the ground LOL. So funny. There were some women cooking on small stoves, they were selling sticks of alpaca meat and potatoe, I ate the potato but not the meat, and bought my first Inca Cola. A Peruvian softThen some of the group played soccer with some kids, i don´t care for sports so i wasnt paying attention but i think our team lost.
Then we went back to our homes and met the rest of the family. We sat in the kitchen while the mom prepared dinner and ...
... another organised trip since its difficult to get to the outer islands without going with a group. This one though turned out to be a really good one, in part because of the guide Oswaldo. He made us repeat his name a few times because he says that everybody always forgets it, I think that might be in his imagination only because I wouldn´t have thought its a forgetable name... he was quite funny and I´ve included him in my really small ...
Lake Titicaca, Puno, Peru ness010... my best but just could manage.I signalled that it was really nice though and I was full up. I think they understood.
We went back into our rooms and was followed by the women who dressed us up in tradtional clothes for the night. They put five skirts on me and a poncho on Mark. Looking really cool we headed back down the hill/mountain for a little barn dance with the locals. They did it first and then we had to copy. They didn´t look that impressed with our ...
Weekend getaway with roommates to Lake Titicaca (Islas Uros, Amantani, Taquile). Left Cusco Friday night on a TourPeru bus that made random stops on the highway to Puno, the gateway to Lake Titicaca, arriving at 5 in the morning. Had a bit of a challenge getting into our hostel, since the gate was locked, the receptionist wasn't there, and when he finally did show up, he didn't have the key to open the lock! We stayed there only for about an ...
