Our first stop today was the large weekend market called Chatuchak. This is the biggest market in Thailand and one of the biggest in all of Southeast Asia. It was incredibly easy to get lost in this gigantic market and the map we had did not help at all, but getting lost in here was part of the fun! There are hundreds and hundreds of stalls selling everything and anything. From clothing to books to furniture to tableware, this market literally has ...
... of tents full of clothes and 2 food areas with lots of different food stalls and 2 bars! One bar had a thai singer who sang a mix of Thai and English songs and danced around a lot. The only downside is they don't sell any cider here!!!!!!
We also now apparently own a pet lizard called Leo. He visits our room everyday and john is very happy about this. (John moaned until I wrote this). Oh and there's a cockerel that lives in the alley outside our window.
Just a brief stopover in Bangkok.
I was keen to see how Khao San Rd had changed in the 18 years since I first went there, but just before I arrived a state of emergency was declared in the city, so I just hung around the north of the city near the secondary Don Muang airport before heading off in the morning.
