Die Türkische Riviera
Wir haben die Küste erreicht zwischen Manavgat und Alanya. Nach sehr langem Suchen haben wir einen schönen Platz direkt am Meer gefunden. Heute haben wir in Alanya den Alten Stadtkern besucht, die Burcht, den Alten Turm und die alte Hafen- und Werftanlage. Danach Camping und schwimmen im Meer.

The last days are quickly approaching. To make sure I as much advantage of each day off as I could, Cassie and I made plans for each remaining weekend. First up, a day trip to Side and Alanya to explore.

We hopped on tram and made our way to the Otogar. Once there, we found the bus to Side, which left every 15 minutes, and soon we were on our merry way.

... seven hours of driving up and down twisty moutainous roads with few barriers to prevent you from driving off a few hundred meters into the Med......i was getting pretty tired. Too many turns. But hey....have to push on. Miraculously, after I stop driving for most of the day, park the car and have a couple of beers.....I fell much better. I consulted Dr. EFES.

... Some day I am sure the coast road will become a dual carriageway, if not a motorway but now, until near Alanya it rises and falls with the hills. It curves inland and twists backwards and forwards until I am dizzy. Sometimes I am riding by the sea, other times I am high above it and sometimes the road takes me inland. The next morning we toured the ancient fortifications and the Red Tower (see pics) before hitting the 150km of road back to the similarly named Antalya where we would fly out the next morning.

Fast forward the dodgy hotel in Antalya, returning the hire car and the flight to Istanbul, and we're nearly back to real time, as in, I am typing up this entry from our Istanbul hotel room. But Istanbul deserves its own entry.
