... Ashland, close to the Shakespeare Festival and all the trendy shops and restaurants. Except for our bus ride to the winery, we were able to walk everywhere.

We started our program with a tour of all three theaters, where we'd be seeing three Shakespeare plays. The festival was started in 1935 by Angus Bowmer, who taught at what is now Southern Oregon University. ...

They have the old bank on display with the original safes and most of the buildings are labeled with what was there and the year built and many of the stores have old memorabilia in the front windows. ... midnight and we are back from Cymbeline. A great performance!! They had to cancel the open air production because of the smoky atmosphere - sad, but they put on a concert performance, without costumes or sets, in the high school hall. A huge success, and very funny. Can't imagine the real thing would have been so much more entertaining! Tomorrow night will be Streetcar Named ...

... 9. We had a quick stop at Safeway for some groceries, Tim bought coffee at Starbucks in order to justify the use of wifi and blog posting and, munching doughnuts from Safeway, we headed out. It was only meant to be a short drive (ever heard that one before?), but due to the severely twisting and steep roads, which rival even the roads around Lake Wakatipu in Queenstown, we took nearly two hours to travel 40 miles back to Route 101. This part of the drive ...
