We made a stop in Asbury park New Jersey after leaving our hotel. This was the birth place of my brother n law and the early home of my inlays back in the late 60's.
You can see some of the old neighborhood feel a well as much new and renovations along he boardwalk. It appears to be a community on the upswing. There were tons of hotels and bed ns breakfast type places. Lots of old homes with lots of interesting color palettes. Had a nice quaint ...
... the car because I couldn't reach, need longer arms lol.) we took the first exit about 1 mile down the road and pulled over to set the GPS, we had travelled 2 mile and the GPS said we had to travel 39 mile to get back, another adventure by Gayle lol. We found many shops along the way, including a quilt shop and arrived back at the motel over 3 hours later.
We have travelled over 10,00 kilometres now.

It was our last night with Maria and her family before heading on our tour to DC. We weren't finished with NYC, but were sad that we left after meeting a lovely family like Maria's and we had to say goodbye to them. That realisation hit us as we were passing Lady Liberty at sunset on our way to Staten Island. The next morning we were off on a two day tour to Philadelphia and Washington DC.

We chose to hike in early Spring, as the weather is nice (a bit colder than late Spring) and the congestion along the trail (regular trekkers and summit expeditions) is less. Fewer people mean more lodging options and better rates.
