We made a stop in Asbury park New Jersey after leaving our hotel. This was the birth place of my brother n law and the early home of my inlays back in the late 60's.

You can see some of the old neighborhood feel a well as much new and renovations along he boardwalk. It appears to be a community on the upswing. There were tons of hotels and bed ns breakfast type places. Lots of old homes with lots of interesting color palettes. Had a nice quaint ...

The only plan for today was to go to the Botanic garden and do my run. I woke up late, I went on the bus again to Prospect Park to do my run. Again, such a struggle to make it through the end. We passed the stinking Meadowlands, Newark, and Jersey City. The rain mercifully let up for a while making navigating ...

I was able to get off early before the tour groups departed, bicycle in hand. It was necessary to carry it down a long escalator, some stairs and a ramp, and walk it around some tight places but once at street level I was good to go. Ship Security just about scared me to death with warnings about getting robbed and mugged and the bike stolen. This set me back for a while thinking about all this, but then I figured, these guys have to err on the side of ...

... solutions? Consider your weight. If you are not planning to hire a porter, you will not want to be lugging 40 lbs of useless **** up 30 degree inclines at 17,000 feet with significantly diminished oxygen levels. If you can keep your pack to 25 lbs or less, you will be much happier when you are struggling for air on the brutal little stretch up to Tengboche.

Once my father and I got our packs sorted, last thing to do was call the cabbie, ...
