OK - so I didn't get yesterday's email out due to time (and a lot of wine) so I thought I would just combine yesterday with today's.
As you already know the Coast Starlight was 2 hours late in arriving at our destination - which really put us behind on our winery visits! It took us awhile but we picked up our friends Ellen and Bill Abernathy who joined us for our wine ...
... begins at 7 pm out here, and by 8 pm it's totally dark. I prefer to arrive in daylight. But a couple next to me arrived after dark last night and put up their tent assisted by their car headlights. Later today I will head for Petaluma. The KOA campground has a bus service to San Francisco, which I intend to use. I haven't been to San Francisco since 1981.

I am avoiding all Interstates but today on a dead straight back road I was going along at an indicated 55 exactly. Not for any desire to uphold the law but simply this is a speed the bike vibrates least at. On the GPS that is 52mph.

We left the Redwoods just before sun set and had an amazing sun set. Californian coast is very different from Oregon - i think. Petter said he still sees similarity in the stones and cliffs.
