... both languages were fairly prevalent.

The three things Brugge is famous for were hard to miss: chocolate, beer and lace. The window displays are filled with delicious treats and marzipan - a visual feast that acts as quite the temptress. Needless to say it did not take us long to visit a chocolatier, and there were no hesitations in ordering a ‘Duval’ (Devil in Flemish - at 8% I ...

... Ellis island. No castle here for us. I can't yet say if mom looks like the locals because everyone here is a tourist. LOL. The written language here is totally incomprehensible. Not like French or Italian where you can figure something out. The 1/8 % is worthless in this regard. So map reading is a challenge. Hope you are all well. Pepere is out of the hospital and on the mend. So that is great. He turns 90 next week. Love you all ...

The stairs you climb go straight up. But our guide is the stoutest, funniest little Belgian ever!!! She was joking that lagers at 4% alcohol are children's beer. There used to be 28 Breweries in Brugge but now there is just one! So, she walked us through the history - but ...

... course. Twice it rained on us but we had raingear so it was no problem. Temperature wise, the weather was perfect. It was only like 65 degrees, big difference from the 92 degrees in NY or the 110 in St. George. We then caught the 4:21 train to Brugge.
We arrived in Brugge at 5:30 and checked into our hotel (ETAP) which is a European motel 6. Very clean, great shower, but very small . But the way we look at things, anything bigger than our tent is a luxury suite! Even though we ...
