    ... for the Amalfian noblemen, with 120 columns, interlaced arches, and frescos dating back to around 1266. Then down the stairs into the Basilica, which is an imposing white space with a monstrous high wooden beamed ceiling, and dates back to 596 AD, but is now used a museum for church relics.     ... and opera nights overlooking the Mediterranean. Spectacular stage they use, and a pity we couldn't stay a night to watch.
