I open my eyes – all is dark. I rub them – still, no light. Inching forward, my bini clad head emerges from the mountain of blankets and sleeping bags – there is now some light but also an icy, breathtaking chill. Quickly I dive back into the warm darkness of our nest. My second attempt at getting up is more successful. Determined I scrape the ice off our sleeping bags and shake the water bottle to see if all its content has already gone into the solid aggregate ...

We had a heck of a rainstorm last night in Olympos; but it didn't delay the plan to travel westward on the Med. So, here we are in Kas, a beautiful quiet sleepy town with a yacht basin filled with sailboats.

The hostel is Beautiful. I think the best I have ever stayed in. And the price isn't too bad, although it is the off season. This Might be It- the place I have been looking for. But, of course, it's too early to tell.

... 5 days (36 degrees celsıus) and the sun ıs a kıller. It ıs well worth ıt though. Each day, dıfferent landscape and a most welcomıng people so dıfferent from us. ... sea kayak, paddling to nearby islands and over submerged ruins, even being serenaded by a couple of bagpipers passing by on a gullet - fabulous day if a little energetic - at least carrying the backpacks should be a little easier now we've built up our arm muscles!

And if any of you think that we are adventurous, yesterday we met a Welsh guy who is in the middle of cycling from Caerphilly to China!!! Now that is hardcore!

... There is also a restaurant we were all supposed to go to (and spend lots of money at) called Smiley's. Interestingly, our guidebook advised that we avoid that spot, in particular, like the plague. So, after checking out the area and meeting some locals, while the rest of our tour group went there, we met up with another couple from the group and spent a very pleasant evening in a small ...

... 11am and began to flank the glorious mediterranean coast, with magnificent looming mountains across deep blue waters. Our ship was an absolute beast of a vessel, one of the larger of the fleet, complete with an 18 bed sundeck, a well stocked bar and full living quarters downstairs. I have no information about who is responsible for these graceful memorials that dot the landscape, although like many of the carved cliff tombs along this stretch of coast, I'd guess they are Lycian and date from around 500 BC. Whoever carved them deserves a hand because they're certainly very cute, much like the bloke sitting next to one in the last photo (just kidding ...
