... you look there is a flag proudly flying. Whether it's a flagpole in the front lawn or a row of flags on the electricity pilons as you drive down the country roads, the national pride is evident. Even the graves we saw had flags instead of flowers.

After a full day, we are back in our lodgings with the fire going and feeling very content. We have mapped out our last day in Maine tomorrow and then heading on to Vermont.

Up until today we've had great weather, but this is New England, after all, so we couldn’t expect that to last! The morning was just a bit cloudy as we left for the Maine Lighthouse Museum in Rockland. When we arrived we heard a fascinating talk by a former keeper of Owl’s Head Lighthouse.
