      From beautiful Brugge we drove south west to Ypres. Along the way we stopped at some of the war memorials to the fallen soldiers. All this area is part of Flanders. We stopped at the Tyne Cot cemetery. It is the biggest commonwealth memorial. It was quite surreal looking at the walls knowing every name on the wall represents a soldier whose body was never found or identified.

      ... famous Belgium brands but walking into a store and looking through the bins and mounds of tempting treats is a lot of fun and in such cases, I can always find some good chocolate to get.

      Back to the hotel for another quiet night. I did try and open the window at one point and the windows are really well soundproofed. It was like being hit by a fierce wind of noise so I quickly shut the window again and forgot about having a breeze.

      Weather yesterday left much to be desired since it was showery and cool once again. However, we dutifully caught the bus into the city for more sightseeing. Today, modern designer stores, chocolate shops, and waffles and frites stands are popular with tourists as are horse-drawn carriage rides and canal boat cruises.
