Day Two

We flew in yesterday. We didn't sit together on the flight to Denver. I asked in Denver if they could find us seats together and the nice United lady gave me a free upgrade to their premium, 5-extra-inches seats so we could sit together. An auspicious beginning. We checked in to our hotel about 4 and changed out of our jeans and walked to the main square. We had garlic fish at some restaurant. Craig liked it better than I did, but it was good. We walked down the beach to come home, but stoppe...

Surprises a Mexico

Mmm cafe

... We were fed dinner of a croissant sandwich, salad, and a dessert and NIck got a free Tecate beer. [Drinkin' Tecate is a must.]
We arrive in Mexico City and I'm thinking I want some caffeine. So, I dig out our bag of pesos and I buy a mocha from Starbucks. Thinking that I was in a secure zone, I could bring my coffee. Alas, I could not and we had to get to our terminal. So, as hot as it ...

Mexico City Day 2

... some advice from a couple of american students at the hostel we headed into town. The Centre of Mexico City is pretty cool, old buildings and massively busy, seemed to have a pretty good vibe to it. Checked out the main square and Cathedral, which is apparently built on the city s original foundations, complete with the skulls of the original settlers which you can ...

Road Trip/Mexico City

... into the state of maternal health and mortality in Guatamala, Cuba, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Haiti and Mexico (I forget the other 1 or 2) so it should be really interesting and will be good to get my teeth into something for a while. I'll then start looking properly for somewhere to stay at the end of the month. We had a party here on Saturday night which was a great laugh and good opportunity to meet some more people and I got lots of advice on ...

Riviera Maya, Nov 11 - 4 nights - Updated!

... we arrived at our room we found it to be acceptable. The room was spacious and the bathrooms were large. The rooms are somewhat basic; don't expect a lot of frills. For dinner that evening we decided to try the buffet restaurant. The food was okay. They seemed to have a decent selection of foods. The next morning we went back to the buffet restaurant for breakfast. The selections for breakfast seemed to be better. The grounds at ...

Big change of plans! Mexico city...

... a new entry stamp, dated the same date as our arrivel to Guatemala. We then had to go the Auistralian embassy in Mexico city where Katie received an emergency passpost which will last for a year. We managed to get the emergency passport on the first day here, when we flew in, and have been relaxing in nice accommodation since. Mexico city: Mexico city has been a fun and interesting experience. The standard way that people act here isnīt quite what we are used to ...

... to carry out adminstrative, religious or social functions during the time of their empire. It makes little sense to me! I mean it was abandoned when they first wrote about it. It was located in the valley as well! Better than the swamps the Aztec built on right! Maybe they were too cocky and didnīt want to adopt the architecture and landscape of their predecessors. Who knows? The moon temple was pretty cool as well. This temple was dedicated to the Moon god. At the top I had ...
