... in during the summer. We were actually a bit bored that day as there wasn't too much to see and we were getting quite tired of walking around. We had a nap and read our books and played Yatzee in the afternoon. Then we had dinner and then some snacks and wine out on our balcony before bed.
We headed into Zurich the next day. We didn't see too much of the business district but instead stuck to the old town. It was a nice city ...
... Once we got closer to the summit, we had to switch to a bigger gondola that looked like it held about 15 to 20 people. Now that was kinda scary! It was higher up off the ground and also being at basically the summit we could see the whole mountain range around Lucern, which was wicked! Reaching the summit it was very cold, not to mention I didn't dress properly! But in proud Canadian fashion, KB went straight for the snow and made a ...
Lucerne, Lucerne, Switzerland crossin_oceans... we were too early so Leanne wanted ice cream so we went and she had an ice cream and then by this time it was close to show time. We headed to the theatre to see 'This is It - the Michael Jackson movie'. We sat down to wait for the movie to start when we realized another feature of the european movie theatre...they sell alcohol! The movie was awesome...but half way through we experienced more European craziness...they have INTERMISSION!! Like ...
Lucerne, Lucerne, Switzerland kkb-myadventureHello everyone,
This story starts with KB and I on our first and only sleepin car experience... From Rome to Interlaken... it was interestin, fun and well we made it! There were 6 of us in the sleepin car, it was tight, but at least me got a bed, we both had the middle beds... there was an old lady on the train that was funny... when she snored she sounded like a tiger purring! I think KB enjoyed it!
We arrived in Interlaken early ...
Hi All, Arrived in Switzerland at Debbie and Aschi's on the 10th. Weather a bit grey and wet but the scenery just as fabulous as we remembered from last time. Clear alpine lakes, towering mountains, cascading waterfalls - wonderful. Great to see Shaun and Joel again - 13 yrs later and to meet Nicole, Shaun's girlfriend. Is now 16th and we've done plenty. The girls and I head home tomorrow via ...
Innertkirchen, Switzerland clements_euro08I really, REALLY love the Alps. All parts: German, Italian, Austrian, and Swiss. Just stunning views and colors. It rains a lot, so everything is very lush. The lake region of Northern Italy is great! Lake Como (George's home!) is beautiful. The weather is about 25 degrees cooler, which I love. I want to put braids in my hair and yodel. I'm not kidding. I want a house in the Alps. Switzerland's roads are on the edge of ...
Lucerne, Switzerland tvmedWe left Lauterbrunnen a day early because it started to rain and we thought we would have more activity options being in the city of Luzerne. We started out at tourist information as usual; they were pushing one hotel called the "Jail Hotel" - cheap - only $50 Swiss francs per night; i had my suspicions when they called it a 3 star hotel (every other hotel of that caliber was 170-200/night). We had to check it out just because it was so cheap ...
Luzern, Switzerland julieh20111. Pilatus - with cogwheel trains and cable cars Day 9. September 16th. Friday. We wake up to a cold and windy day. After a nice breakfast at the hotel, we get ready to soar up Mt Pilatus. We've got the whole day today, and of the three major mountains to go up in this area, I've picked Pilatus because the round trip up one side and down the other seems the most interesting. So ...
Lucerne, Switzerland sharon1306... down a sheer cliff. (See first picture) I knew the lift to the top of the highest mountain in the region, the Jungfraujoch station at 3454m was expensive. When the lady asked for 80 pounds I said I'd have to think about it - which I did for about 2 seconds. If I'd got the bus, hiked part then I could have done it for less but with the weather turning on Monday I decided it was time to press on. Besides, it ...
