... we got here at 11.30. Looks like another beautiful town so we will have a wander then set off for somewhere on route to Zurich tonight. Still so hot and sunny here. Hope you have good weather at home.

Mikey just went off to get food and check the bikes, he came back and says mine has a parking ticket!? Will let you know what happens about that! Think it was in the Velo city parking space maybe.

I think Lucerne has been the shortest travel distance we have gone on this whole trip. It was about an hour drive from Zurich.

Very cute little town and a beautiful day to visit. Since it was Saturday their was a market going on all over the city. We picked up this braided bread (can't remember what the german name is), got a pizza baked for us right on the street and this other bread with melted cheese. ...

... was a fire back in 1993 that almost destroyed the old bridge. It happened that someone in a leisure boat, that was under the bridge, was smoking and caught his boat on fire. You can see the burnt wood area that they did not rebuild just to remind people of the big fire. Today, no leisure boats are allowed anywhere near the bridges.

3) The Swiss people are active and happy. People well into their seventies hike and bike and I saw many of these elderly people at the top of the Shilthorn. And let me assure you, they did not take the gondola up. Also, young couples carry their babies on their backs. They don't leave them with a sitter, they take them everywhere, including on hardcore bike trips and hikes.

Hi All, Arrived in Switzerland at Debbie and Aschi's on the 10th. Weather a bit grey and wet but the scenery just as fabulous as we remembered from last time. Clear alpine lakes, towering mountains, cascading waterfalls - wonderful. Great to see Shaun and Joel again - 13 yrs later and to meet Nicole, Shaun's girlfriend. Is now 16th and we've done plenty. The girls and I head home tomorrow ...
