Historical Traveler Reviews Almond Tree Inn Key West

Never wanted to leave

from eastcoastwahine

My husband and I were pleasantly surprised with all aspects of the Almond Tree Inn. It was a highlight of our vacation to the Keys.

Located a half a block from Duvall Street in Key West, the Almond Tree manages to maintain an air of tranquility in a Bourbon Street neighborhood. The inn has a heated pool and hot tub, complimentary continental breakfast, and a happy hour served every evening. The staff were wonderful and so was the resident cat, Spike. We were very pleased with our room, with it's king sized bed, 2 terry cloth bath robes, in- room safe, microwave, and mini-fridge. We were across the road from a motorscooter and bike rental place which was very convenient.

I would recommend this inn to anyone staying in Key West for its value, proximity to central town, and nature of the site. We can't wait to go back!

Almond Tree Inn was WONDERFUL!

from anonymous

My husband and I got married in Key West back in May and we stayed at the Almond Tree Inn along with our families and several friends. The staff was incredibly accommodating and did everything imaginable to make our stay there wonderful! The owner's daughter even purchased a bottle of vintage Dom Perignon for my mother-in-law and sister-in-laws and placed it in our room for after the wedding.

Everyone working the front desk was so nice and we all loved the free happy hour everyday! The Almond Tree is a little bit further down Duval Street so it's not to be right in the middle of all the "madness"! And the pool and hot tub are really nice. I love how it's in it's own little "compound".

I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. My husband and I plan to go again and stay at the Almond Tree for one of our anniversaries. The only thing I would say before reserving a room is that if you stay in one of the "deluxe" rooms try to get one on the second floor so you don't have to listen to people walking around above you.

Disappointed in the Almond Tree

from anonymous

August 2003, my sister and I vacationed in Key West. We really researched the hotels and inns to find the perfect place to stay.

Almond Tree Inn looked great based on the reviews we read as well as their Web site. Two weeks before our vacation, we booked a room with 2 queen size beds through Orbitz. We arrived at the Almond Tree Inn at 2:30 in the afternoon. Check in was at 3 and the fellow at the front desk told us to come back at 3. We went and had lunch and arrived back at 3:30-- the room was still not finished and we had to wait an additional 1/2-hour. Once in the room, my sister and I found a king size bed. I went to the front desk and showed them my Orbitz reservations. The man said I shouldn't have gone through Orbitz but through their Web site. Additionally he told me the room had a sofa bed that would meet our needs. THIS IS NOT WHAT WE REQUESTED. When I asked to be placed in the room I reserved, he told me they were sold out and he would be happy to help me find another hotel to stay. We were hot and tired (After a 5 hour drive) and decided to just take the room. The room itself was very nice, despite the ants in the bathroom. If the man at the front desk had been less patronizing and more accommodating...

(They were wrong and they very well could have been nice enough to offer a discount or at the very least an apology), I might not have been spurred to write this review. As it is, I would not recommend you stay at the Almond Tree Inn. Believe me when I tell you there are many other nice inns along Duval Street that should suit your needs.

However, if you do decide to stay at the Almond Tree Inn, book directly, arrive late, and carry an ant trap.

Wonderful!

I reserved a room in this hotel based on the reviews I found on this website and was pleasently surprised tofind the Almond tree inn even nicer than the reviewers had described it. My mother, my aunt and I stayed in the 2 queen suite which has two queen beds and a queen pullout couch. We were very impressed by the room, very large and tastefully decorated. The wine/beer happy hour was very pleasent, and the continental breakfast also pleantiful. The Hot tub and pool open 24 hours were the ultimate in relaxation after a very hot day sightseeing.

The hotel was close to fine dining (try the lobster at Duffy's one street over, to DIE for). The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, and gave good directions. The free parking is a BIG plus in key west (saves you 20 bucks a day). Only downer, the bathroom was quite small.

Overall wonderful experience, will DEFINITELY stay again.

Great Place to Stay in Key West

from anonymous

We enjoyed our five night stay at the Almond Tree Inn. The accomodations were wonderful, the pool was a nice retreat in the heat, and the location was superb. This was our first visit to Key West and we will gladly be staying at the Almond Tree for our return trip. Words can't describe how wonderful this place is. Don't overlook it when staying in Key West!

Recently stayed two nights and had a wonderful time. The rooms were very clean and attractive and the employees were very professional and caring to our needs. I plan a return trip to Key West in September and will definetly plan on staying at the Almond Tree Inn.

Beautiful place

Our family stayed at the Almond Tree Inn in August 2002 and had a wonderful time. We had travelled from the UK to stay in San Francisco and Las Vegas and were looking forward to a more relaxing time in Key West. The Inn we had originally booked was closed for refurbishment, so our booking was transferred.........we couldn't have been more happy!

The rooms were lovely and the service could not be faulted. We will definitely be returning soon.........

Wonderful Tropical Inn

After staying two nights elsewhere, we checked into the Almond Tree without a previous reservation. The rooms were lovely, the staff most gracious, and just a wonderful place to stay. We'll stay here again the next time we get to Key West!

Nice rooms, great staff

from mojitogirlChicago

Just returned from a visit here in early February. The rooms were very nice and the staff was pleasant. Rates include a continental breakfast and evening happy hour. A pleasant waterfall in the pool drowned out any noises from Truman Ave. Plentiful parking. We thought the location was great-you can walk to either end of Duval.A very good choice at a reasonable rate.

Perfect vacation

We had a wonderful stay in December in this hotel.

Very friendly staff, nice decorated rooms, very clean. The pool was refreshing every mornig before breakfast. Location is perfect, quite but central to Old Town.

I will book again in 2003 to go back for one week.

We lost an hour of the day but that didn't matter. Sunny and 75F today in Key West. We enjoyed coffee and breakfast poolside, Bill got a short swim, and Teresa noticed that Earnest Hemingway's house was to be dedicated as a national literary landmark this afternoon. Dropped the car off and went to Sarabeth's for brunch -- ALWAYS A GREAT CHOICE -- …

Warm in the upper 70s today, we embarked after a very leisurely morning poolside to get the most out of our Key West Bar Cards. Purchased for $10 each, they entitle the bearer to 2:1 drinks at several of the city's pubs and eateries. The afternoon took us to the Bottle Cap for bears followed by a walk to Southernmost Point. A line up for pictures …

We enjoyed another slow start and after coffees decided to take breakfast out at the Banana Cafe north on Duval street. The Norweigian salmon omelete and eggs benedict were amazing. Our time in paradise briefly over this trip, we packed our belongings and made our transfer to the Key West airport.

Avoiding the drive to Miami was a …
