· The town of Duluth is actually quite small. The city of Superior just across the bridge is much larger and has more businesses.

ENGINE COOKING – Can't remember if I have posted this or not… The cooking under the hood is working out pretty well! The first day was the worst, though. We cooked turkey breast with veggies but I left it on too long and it was dried out but certainly edible. Actually, part of my trouble was that I forgot and left the foil package under the hood for an extra hour and a half after we arrived while I chatted ...

We left Thunder Bay, Canada, after spending a great few days, and headed south towards the border. We arrived to an empty border crossing and as we have come to expect were asked to pull over and proceed into the building, I suspect they were bored, which doesn't help. After the usual questions and a few new ones, we were asked if we had any documentation that might show we still lived in New Zealand.

The agent then proceeded to type additional information into our file, and then ...

... much all day. We got through Duluth much better this time.
We both have GPS's so that helped. We have missed seeing all the wild animals along the road. It is nice to see green grass and trees. It looks alot like MI here.
We are staying in a campground in Superior Wisconsin.

... miles before we entered the paper-mill town of Grand Rapids where there was the largest pile of logs I have ever seen - 50 ft high and about quarter of a mile long. The other highlights of today were getting the car washed at the geographical centre of North America, re-crossing the Mississippi, and buying a coffee thermos in the town where Judy Garland was born.  Nuff said!

Duluth is relatively mild for its usual winters. The temperature is in the range of 10 - 25 deg F. We are actually coping well, provided we rug up before going out. The temperature was only in the high 80's and the highest sand dune looked easy, off we went it only took 20 minutes to ascend.
