    Lovely Apartments

We arrived at the Rothensteiner Apartments on Sunday night and from first impressions, it was very rustic. The decor is old fashioned (verging on the haunted!) but beautiful and consistent throughout the rooms. The rooms are very large and spacious with free wifi and TV in each room. Highly recommended!

By the end of our three days we felt we had truly experienced Vienna. Street musicians & actors, coffee shops, Mozart everything, Hapsburg quality and Austrian hospitality. No one could ever see the 400 museums in the city....we only went to one choosing to enjoy our time ...

... Sisi has become this huge commodity in Vienna, with products galore named after her. Just weird.

Anyway, we found the museum visit far more interested. We first visited the armory museum (absolutely awesome display of knight's armor and weaponry, the museum of musical instruments (room after room filled with instruments used during the Hapsburg era) and the Ephesus museum ( a couple small rooms filled with relics taken from Ephesus in Turkey – they ...

Another glorious day so we decided on a day trip out of the city. There is a boat trip through the Wachou region. A particularly scenic portion of the Danube. From the main train station Westbahnhof, we bought a e49 ticket which gave us a 1 hr train ride to Melk, a tour around the enormous Benedictine ...

They rang a taxi to take us there, but after driving around for twenty minutes, it was obvious the taxi driver had no idea where to go. I suggested he ring the hotel he had just picked us up from and get the exact address from them. We eventually found it, checked in, then went out to find somewhere to get something ...
