Venice - Day 3

A travel blog entry by t.bird

Today I set my sights in the island of Murano, where they make beautiful glass. As I left my hotel I took my first step in the wrong direction. I don't know where my head was at considering I've had the way to San Silvestro stop down pat ever since I got here, but I soon found myself in a street I didn't recognise. No matter, ploughed on and it wasn't long before I spied a sign pointing to Rialto. Took a short stroll over the rialto bridge and found the Vaporetto stop. As I was ...

... amp; some wine & it turned into a platter of presentation! Beef steak, we passed on the option of horse, with grilled veggies surrounding the platter. The wine was a Sangiovese/Pinot Nero blend from a vineyard 15 miles away. Alvise (Elvis) our waiter was quite tickled when I told him we ride our horses, not eat them. Arrivederci to Venice! The Doges palace was also where all court was held to decide on prisoners' sentences. Then a walk through the prisons and across "The Bridge of Sighs" the last look at the outside world that prisoners would see before jail.

... we are on the loose again. One of Sues suitcases sits on the top of the red bus and we make stately progress to the massive queue for the people mover and back to Piazale Roma. The Alilaluga water bus is crowded and not pleasant but we get off at Rialto and back to Residenza Goldoni to drop off our bags. There is a blazing row is progress with some other guests which has to be resolved as we wait in airconditioned comfort. Then we find we can have our rooms ...
