    ... forthcoming and enjoyed my interest. They and the Amish had been the one group but had split, with the Mennonites becoming more in tune with modern day but keeping their religion.     ... the sidewalks. We ate dinner there, but not in an Amish restaurant. In fact there is no Amish restaurant in Kalona. There are several bakeries and Amish groceries in the area along with the usual, furniture makers, etc. They have a historical museum which consist of some of the old buildings and show the Amish/Mennonite way of life.     ... golfed. We found a nice 9 hole course in North Liberty, IA, it is named Quail Creek so that should have given us a clue! Relatively flat, but 5 of the 9 holes had water!! Needless to say, I lost 2 balls attempting to cross the water. Bob however made it over them all and one of the water holes was really broad. I have included a picture of that one.     After spending about 6 hours here (in a 2
    hour parking zone taking up nearly 2 spaces) -but the Sheriff did wave
    to us - e moved on to the Amana colonies where the only available
    camping place was a commercial one but rather cheaper than most as it
    was only $34 and surprise, we got a 50% discount with our Passport
    America card. It was really huge but nice.
