... letter to the New York Times from humorist Will Rogers who suggested exactly that. One display said that only JFK and Herbert Hoover returned or gave away their presidential salaries. Mr. Hoover was a self made man who inherited nothing. He could have lived a fabulous, carefree life. He left this world at the age of 90, having left a considerable legacy of public service above and beyond that of a one term ...

... Millross would have enjoyed seeing the shop so I took a few pictures. The Amana Woolen Mill is also an old business, 1855, and the number or spools of thread for the loom is hard to believe.

Does the name Amana make you think of appliances. Well Amana, no relationship, is now owned by Whirlpool and has a plant here.

... weather forecast is not too good as storms are predicted along our path.

Our destination is Amana Colonies in Amana, IA. This is an historic German town that we stopped briefly on our trip to Alaska in 2012. The town closes up at 5:00 pm so we decided to come back and stay a few nights to check it out. More tomorrow on our venture into town.

I have included a short video of what we see as we head down the road. Enjoy.

First whole day at the Rally in Sturgis. What a busy day! Up at dawn. Hot water, good deal. Love it when the days starts reasonable. OK. Things to remember if I come back. Get a room or at least a site with power. The camping is free, they have showers, but only the real payers have water and power. How.small a generator do they make. Weather has been unbelievably good. No rain. We dodged a Thunderstorm ...
