With the windows down or non existent, we bumped our way back to Banjsal with a Reggae soundtrack and some power ballads. The Estonians DJ'd while everyone except me slept. Emma and one half of the Polish couple got massages while Pauline missed her boyfriend Bastian back in Lille. We hobbled out and were directed to building one (for Gili Air) and building two (for Gili T and Meno): easy. Mount ganu poked through the clouds in the distance and the three gili islands could be seen positioned in a row out to sea. The volcano sat inside a large crater of turquoise blue water tinged with sulphur yellow around it's outskirts. The summit of mount rinjani was a further 12 hour hike, which are excuse for not doing it was ...

... and took a seat. Nay had fish curry (lots of scales but delicious) I had tuna burger which was surprisingly good. Iced lemon was sour but calmed down with sugar and melted ice to dilute.

Afterwards we headed to the ‘city shop’ - the island’s supermarket which seemed to sell everything - from food and clothing to electric tools and fishing gear. We bought a cheap lightweight beach towel each and then went for a swim. As we sat on the beach a group ...
