... flight only departed at 1.05am. The taxi ride there was busy and bored of being stuck in traffic we jumped out and ate in an Ibis Hotel which was much fancier than the ones we have at home! Once we'd finished up we called a taxi which never arrived and were kindly given a lift by the hotels transfer service for the same price as a taxi. ... certainly happy to be compared to someone 25 years younger! Our week started with the departure from Bromo to Bondowoso on Saturday. It was a long and adventurous descent - we must have gone 35km without pedalling. One of the real highlights was a long journey along a large canal connecting several villages. ... to endure further climbs and we waited on the side of the road until some vehicles from Pondok Senaru arrived to ferry us home.

We are now perched high up in the mountains, overlooking Mount Rinjani and spectacular gullies, a waterfall, the ocean on the other side and there's a scary monkey running around... I think he's eyeing me off.....

So tired after an adventurous day.... Again it's the impromptu things that turn out to make the holiday memorable.

... lombok island is rich in beaches, why I said it ??? because the island is surrounded by a very long coastline. from the provincial capital (lombok west) to the tip of the province (east lombok). Unlike the beaches of Bali are always filled with tourists, here you can find a private beach without fear of being disturbed by others.
