There's a rainbow over the harbour this morning, I wonder if that means rain or sunshine will prevail. Before we leave we update the blogs and book a hotel in the airport in Doha for our stopover when we return from Namibia. We should get to the port today, so possibly sail tonight. The scenery today is lovely, the hills wirh the mountains beyond have a look of the Lake District. There are a lot of the wetland areas with masses of storks feeding. Doris, or rather ...

      11/11 Corfu

We left the ship late and spent some time using the Port's free wifi. We were heading to the bus stop to take a bus into town when we ran into an enterprising taxi driver. He was waiting at the bus stop instead of in the line of taxis looking for €100 fares to tour the island. He offered us a €10 trip to the historic district and the same back. We found ...

We had a coffee and cookie while we checked e-mail, facebook, etc. By the time we finished it was 11:30, surely time for a taste of the local wine. Ed tried a rosé, which was very good, with a dark body and the aroma and taste of red currants. My red wine was very light but very flavorful. I don’t have the creative writing instincts that Ed has, so I’ll just say ...

      ... br>
We headed out of town to Achilleion Palace, the retreat for the Empress Elizabeth of Austria. We had learned about her life when we were in Vienna last year. She built this house in Corfu in late 19th century style and decorated it with Gods of Ancient Greece, primarily Achilles for which the palace is named. We spent a couple of very interesting hours in both the house and the gardens and admiring the spectacular views. Did I mention that ...

... the top and then a water landing. Then i watched the others go and took some pictures.

After everyone had gone the boat came back and we got on and went back to the beach. From the beach some of us went back to the hotel resort pool and camped here for a few hours. The pool bar had some great gyros on offer as well as drinks, so i ate and drank and went for a swim, then drank some more, relaxed in the sun, got sun burnt. I then packed up, walked back to the room, got ...
