    ... nd I knew just by the way he talked to me that he must have been in the service. I almost wanted to say: "In Karlsruhe Sir!" He told me they lived in Nuernberg for 3 years while stationed in Germany and that they loved it and would love to go back and live there. Now they are living in Tow with their 3 adorable little girls, looking like the perfect American small town family.

    ... was a good band playing and a waiter from Birmingham - qoute 'it beats working in Erdington'. Finding a restaurant with a terrace also voids the inside 'freezing' air conditioning they go in for here.
    In the morning we meandered via Burnet (another heritage museum complete with log cabins) & Lampasas (another Court House and stories of gunfights) and a banana split in a Dairy Queen.
    Then its back to Fort Hood.

    Just a quick 10K down to the creek and back. I feel good. Lots of last minute planning. The weather may be a little rainy in the Aosta Valley and I may not be able to see the Matterhorn. The webcams are all fog right now.

    I know that it will be a great, happy, tiring but totally wonderful ...

    Golf outing

    Today was a down day so we (Hibler's and us) decided to go "walking" around a golf course. We couldn't' get an early t-time so we decided to only golf 9 holes. The weather was cooperative by being a little cloudy and cool, so we all started out rather strong. I even managed to get a couple of the balls off the ground! But then about hole 8 we all lost steam! This is a nice course and since we will be coming back here in June, we'll plan on walking it ...

    ... the many eclectic food trailers and then finish the evening off at an amazing “Modern” Thai Restaurant – Sway.

    It was a godsend to be able to connect with family along the course of our journey. Setting aside the marvelous scenery and incredible food, the gift here was the quality of conversation and opportunity to dialogue with loved ones.
