Driving on the long access road from the cabin to the main road we saw Alan and Janet, a couple from Massachusetts that we had met around the fire pit on Sunday night. They told us about the three bald eagles they had seen near the cabins the previous day feeding on a porpoise carcass on the beach (that solved the mystery of why JB had thought he had only seen a rib cage). Lazy Day
... and mulled over how to spend the day. I wanted to spend some time at the cabin because even with the overcast sky, the views of the water and landscape were stunning. Hummingbirds and porpoises
I woke at 2:30 am. The full moon was shining so brightly it was casting shadows on the ground. I padded round the cabin looking out of the windows - no obvious bear shadows to be seen. I forced myself back to sleep and woke again at 5:15. By now the moon had set and the sky was filled with stars. ... going so well until I put in my billing address - only Canadian addresses were permitted. I tried phoning but the freephone number was not supported by my phone roaming package, so I was not going to be able to have Internet whenever I wanted. Bummer!
