Arose for our scheduled 8:30 breakfast. Descending one level to the ‘dining area’, we were joined by “Donna” from Whitehorse. First course - a delightful fruit dish displayed like a sailboat (photo attached - know you’ll love it, Michelle). Second course - mini banana cakes....

We made it to Digby last night and stayed at a B&B that's been in the family since 1929.

We enjoyed the world famous Digby scallops for supper and strolled the wharfs for our evening walk.

The next day brought plenty of sunshine for us so we toured up to Bear River & Smith's Cove which is just north of Digby. Very prett...

For reasons known to many of you, Annapolis looms large in my mind. I was pleased to see the town is quaint as ever and the Academy is much less of an overwhelming presence than I recall. Hopefully this quells some of the anxiety dreams going forward...

Two minutes worth of comparing pre-adventure notes would have shown us that we should have continued up around the coast from the Rocks and dropped into Nova Scotia from the NW, but we didn't. So after the kayaking, we took the 200 km dirt path back to civilization (Saint John) to catch the ferry to Digby. At 11 PM. Who the hell schedules one of...

What a relief - I found a computer at an information station on the way to the boat to go to Digby! We are heading over a day early - we figured out that we could make the first boat from Grand manan and then catch the boat over to Nova Scotia!

So much has happened that I will write about tonight - quick update - went to Machias Island ...

This was truly an amazing experience. I have known about Puffins for years - I was first introduced to them by my sister in law when I visited the Northwest in the 80's, so I couldnt' pass up a chance to get up and personal with them.

We drove to Seal Cove and had to be there by 6:45 AM sharp as the boat was leaving at 7 and we quickly ...

We then headed out towards Annapolis Royale. We decided to head north to the sea shore at Bridgetown - some very nice views of the water but only a few hundred yards of properties with waterfront. A nice area but a little distant from the daily requirements of grocery stores and gas stations. We rejoined the higway just east of Annapolis Royale ...

It is a quiet evening and we can hear the fog horn in the distance. It has been a bit of a grey and rainy day and the fog is now rolling in slowly. We first heard the fog horn in Trinity Bay in NL and I just love the sound of it - it sounds almost soothing and somewhat melancholy, except when you are trying to get some sleep! OK - so we're getting back on track !! We left Middleton on a frosty but sunny morning. There was no breakfast at the motel so we set off to look for some. Greetings from the best B & B we've experienced yet. Since our last entry we checked out Moncton ( very quickly ) and then on to The Hopewell Rocks. What a cool place!
