... already know all the best spots!
We plan to visit Edinburgh before going onto London. As my husband is of Scottish heritage. I need MUCH advice on getting around Edinburg, Scotland without driving ourselve. We only have a few days before we head down to London so we would like to maximize our time there without being frantic
312 miles - set off at some un-Godly hour to drive from Chesterfield to Fife, Scotland to watch football! Trish likes the journeys but thinks the idea is crazy. Anyway, we are here now! Prior to the match we walked around the town - NOT Scotland's biggest attraction. Anyway, 2:30pm and I arrive at the ground ready for the match. One stand is fairly ...
Methhill, Scotland, United Kingdom chrisontour... the cold again, wondering where the hell this next bus is cos it wasn't on the schedule, and some random bus pulls up. Lovely old Stagecoach, joy. Getting on, the driver's moaning about how **** it was, and we're just like oh well it'll get us there right?
"We'll see.." .. highly reassuring, mate.
No issues though, and then around 11am we pull into Edinburgh! Finally got to see the Forth Bridge, and then seeing ...
Today, I was planning to go to the youth hostel at the castle, but the Land Rover had other plans!!!
Oh dear, game over! I popped out to start the Land Rover this morning at around 9am and the engine was smoking like a trooper and sounding a lot worse than it normally does. I called the AA at around 10:00 and they turned up at at around 10:45 from a local garage. He told me that the engine is fairly terminal (piston problem ...
... fringe. so far as i know, it all started in the post-war years when edinburgh was chosen to play host to the International Festival, a festival of classical music and theatre. that year some uninvited theatre companies also came to edinburgh and created a fringe to the main festival. since then the fringe has become the largest of the festivals and is very diverse, incorporating music, comedy, dance and ...

So it will be a miracle if I can walk tomorrow... Hiked 3.5 hours up Arthur's Seat (which was once an active volcano), which involved rock climbing, bunnies EVERYWHERE (I literally geeked out when I saw them popping in and out of their holes. Makes me want to re-read Watership Down...), and a whole lot of peer pressure. Good news is, got to do some viking style graffiti on Arthur's Seat, so maybe 10k years from now someone will do a research paper on who ...
... ever totally trust each other for succor and aide uncondionally. Then we moved on from thier after taking some great pictures to finally see Lockness which is breathtakingly beatiful we saw the whole lake from start to finish but it was getting dark so Andrew said we would retrace our steps in the morning. We finally arrived in Inverness the hauntingly beatiful Capitol of the Highlands. Its a city of about 60,000 and its amazing. I loved walking around and i had quite the ...
Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom adri204... the golden-locked beauty, "I'm sure you can imagine, post-traumatic stress and all." Goldilocks, who is being represented by attorney Robert Shapiro, filed suit against Papa Bear, Mama Bear, and Baby Bear earlier this week. "My attorney said I have multiple grounds for my case," explained the blonde. "First, Papa's porridge was so hot that it gave me blisters of the mouth. Secondly, you may recall that Baby Bear's chair broke into pieces when I sat in ...
Edinburgh, United Kingdom happysheep... up. After lunch we all went into the city by bus. Once again I don't know how she does it on her own. Today of course she had us but apparently she does these regular outings on her own. We saw the statue erected in memory of Greyfriars Bobby which for the uninformed is a dog. A dog that devotedly remained at the side of his masters grave for some 16 years fed and watered by the sympathetic public. It is one of those stupid urban myths that ...
Edinburgh, United Kingdom brianc... such as David Hume and an impressive monument to Scotmen whom fought in the American Civil War. The air was starting to get cool at this point so I decided to head for a couple night-caps at some of Edinburgh's finest pubs. My first stop was at a bar dedicated to the Caledonian Brewey. From there I headed to the Oxford Bar for a Deuchars IPA (a sister brew of Caledonian 80). The Oxford Bar is the favourite watering hole of ...
