Got to Rome just after 9am and then 10am train to Pisa.
Lockers at Pisa station are out of order so lugged my backpack to the leaning tower, took some photos and now slowly making my way back to the station stopping for coffee, food and beer along the way.

Forgot that northern Italy food options were ...

Italian leather... a girl's best friend

... so Katy, Steve and I waked around for a bit before hand. I showed them where Academia was so they could see the David (since I had seen it for free in August, I decided I wasn’t going to pay this time) and I hung out and walked around a bit. It felt nice to be in a city that I had been to before because I knew my general way around. Actually, I have to give myself props, I don’t think we used a map but maybe once the entire time we were ...

Thanksgiving

... Cranberry Sauce, Stuffing, Potatoes, and Mixed Vegetables. For dessert pumpkin pie, ice cream, and apple cider! It was nice to spend the night with classmates and a few professors.

Friday night, we had yet another Thanksgiving with all of my friends. Everyone prepared their favorite dish and we spent the night telling stories of our families Thanksgivings.

Florence... art and leather

... food in Italy so far! Amazing!
Finished off with a gelati from Vivoli.

Walked up to Michaelangelo Square for awesome views right across Florence which is a pretty flat city and then over to Ponte Vechio.

Wednesday checked out Academia, the highlight of which was Michaelangelo's David which is a lot more amazing and stunning in real life than pictures or the copies littered about the city.
There was also a Robert ...

Cooking Class

Hi Everyone!

After an exhausting weekend in Brussels, I was in for yet another treat with cooking classes in Florence. Organized by my school, a group of us met with a chef for some lessons.

We were taught how to prepare typical Tuscan cuisine including Ribollita and Stuffed zucchini-flowers.

Everything was delicious & I look forward to trying these recipes at home!

so eurotrash. so good.

... can't actually flag down a cab, you must call for it in advance...which proves difficult when there is only one cellphone to be had, and the guy with it has disappeared....but we made it back (and had to get up at 8:30 the next day to sign official documents...ughhhhh).

Next up? Today we are getting our Italian phones, taking a full walking tour of Florence, and of course, back to the clubs tonight!! :)

God I could get used to this!
Much love!

Under the Tuscan Sun

... apart from this, the next two days in Chianti were spent riding mountain bikes. Yes. Through the green valleys and up the bloody hills. So many hills. Oh man. We were sore, Alicia has taken her leg bruises to France with her, but we had beautiful views, saw a couple of nice towns, and really enjoyed riding through the region even if it was hard work.

This takes us to June 22. Chris' birthday. Spent the first hour with Keanu ...

The past week....

This past week was a really fun week. I attend a cooking class and spent the weekend exploring different parts of Florence and Tuscany. On Tuesday, Syracuse offered a cooking class, so I went and it was awesome. It only cost 20 euros and I learned how to make three different types of pasta and tiramisu. My journey towards becoming an Italian cook is beginning. So I made homemade pasta, which is not complicated, but it's a little ...

Intermission

... have been in the area for five months (being that they start from the date of entry, which is in a months time), and use the multiple entries to see Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh. We even emailed the Indian embassies in Canberra, Rome, and the office for immigration in India more than once to confirm our plans and only got one email from Canberra saying to contact the Rome office. So we turn up to the embassy in Rome Friday week ago only to be told that they do ...

The Weekend Trip - Naples, Capri, Pompeii

... same. We successfully cut them off from cutting in front of us at least. When they realized that they weren't getting far, they actually got mad, left the line and threw their tickets on the ground. Mission accomplished. And we were on our way to our hostel. We were dropped off at the bus stop and had to walk to our hostel. Most of the streets in Capri are only walking streets. The were cobblestone and residential - very beautiful, and very different ...
