This Inn is pricey, but situated in a beautiful part of Virginia on a beautiful piece of land. The staff are friendly and laid back, and we spent a nice, restful, peaceful weekend. The food in the restaurant is outstanding!

Today we went wine tasting, which is the primary activity in Fauquier County, other than anything to do with horses. I don't necessarily recommend going wine tasting where the other half lives, as the cost is commensurately inflated. The first winery we went to wanted $10 per person to taste five wines. The cheapest wine on the list was $24 bottle …

Driving north on Friday afternoon isn't too onerous if you leave early enough, and with the exception of one bad spot in Warrenton, where we sat through at least five cycles of one traffic light, we made good time and had a pleasant trip. Checked into the Blackthorne Inn, a B&B housed in a house that once belonged to George Washington, about 4: …

All of the students are excited to be getting on the plane. Some first time that will be fun. First stop is Panama and then on to San Jose. Everyone did a great job with the one carry-on suitcase rule! The group is really great and I think the students will enjoy being together. They are excited to learn about their placements at Green Forest School! Alan and are going to practice ...

... troops 90day period ended on 20 July!!!

Anyway, what about the battlefield.... Well its not that well preserved and there were 2 battles so its quite confusing to display. Also the rolling hills and trees grown since the battle make it very difficult to visualise.

What did happen was that the North began to realise this was a war not a picnic, and the South started to realise that they couldn't win it (their resources were about a third of ...

This morning John cooks us steak and eggs - over easy, for brunch - so good. Sharon and I go to a lovely pie shop and buy sour cherry pie and lemon meringue pie for dessert tonight. The boys are cleaning their bikes when we come back and then they go for a quick ride on each others bike just to check it out - it's a boy thing.
