Leaving the slum, then to Caspar (camping)

I've never been so happy to leave a hotel. This place was a DUMP.

We stopped by Point Reyes national park for some (more) good views, but mostly just enjoyed the scenery along route 1.

The dogs are doing well, as is the camper. We're happy Caspar is getting the help he needs, but sad to see him go.

We found a neat campsite with a beautiful ocean view (Caspar beach rv park), and settled for the night. Campfire w/ BBQ and beer. Life is good.

With both front and back brakes on their way out, it was quite an exhilarating experience for Steve. A few miles later we hit another huge hill, probably steeper than the last. And I have to admit, it was worth the $14 price of admission (and mile walk to get there). Wow - these Redwood trees are enormous and majectic. But while I really enjoyed the forest, it was a little crowded for my taste and I felt like just another "tourist". We took the 1.5 hour ...

... a bit of a wait inside but once it was our turn it was very painless - same procedure as at LAX really - they take your photo & fingerprints, ask you a heap of questions then you pay the bill and get a new stamp in your passport. Then because we'd declared that we had food with us (like a whole pantry full) we had to wait inside while they went out and searched Toby. Last time we came through I got paranoid and threw out all of our fresh food, then we got to the gate ...

Northern Cal Coast.

... Much nicer weather today, although still only a high of 65. Went past a giant statue of Paul Bunyan & Babe his blue Ox. Stayed in a campground in Klamath,  right beside the Klamath River. Had an awesome campfire right beside the river.  Wednesday. What a morning! From the platform where we had the campfire, I was able to watch & get a couple of photos of, a bald eagle fishing (until a territorial Osprey chased it away), pelicans, shags & herons all fishing too. Then we ...
