So today I officially set out to head off to China...2 hours before my usual wake up time. It was an absolute pain in the neck and I didn't get any sleep until we were at least 5,000 miles away from home. There's no better day than this for going to the DMV to get a learner's permit, since all the students will be there too you really get to have a good sit down. ... in the service. It's no secret that Japan is famous for their exceptional customer service, but the service in NY had never struck me as bad. It's interesting what a year of bell-ringing from the table, servers bending over backwards and doing it with a smile, can do to you. I suppose it was a bit of reverse culture shock, and I'm sure I'll be able to readjust.
