In an admittadly emotionally driven decision, I left christchurch on the great road trip.
The first challenge was fitting ten people and all their luggage into two cars.

After a wonderful week "at home" with the family I decided to become a bit more adventurous and so on monday bought a very expensive (but well worth it) ferry ticket to the South Island. I took the 8:05 ferry from Wellington to Picton. The Interislander ferry holds 1600 people plus their vehicles. I went straight in and snagged a comfy seat near a wall plug so that I could plug in my laptop. After a 3.5 hour journey and alot of episodes of "Sex and the City," I arrived in Picton. I was greeted at the terminal by my hostel's bus....

After Kaikoura, we continued north towards Abel Tasman. The scenery on our way there was very nice. We stopped at Kekerengu for a breakfast, as suggested by the owner of Beaconstone Backpackers and it is indeed a very lovely place. Well Last stop for me in the south island was Picton. It was still ******* it down when i arrived there so thought i may as well check out the ferry times and prices..
