We spent most of the day travelling.

The border wasn't too bad all very manic and lots of waiting around but got through without any trouble.

Spent most of the day watching India go by out of the window - it is full of crazy traffic. And you can see anything and everything happening by the side of the road!

Nous partons tôt le matin pour Gorakhpur. Le voyage en train est assez agréable, même si moins confortable que celui de Delhi à Varanasi. Il faut dire que nous avons été sur un « open train », donc pas de réservation de place. En attendons au quai, nous nous préparons mentallement pour monter sur le train. Il va falloir jouer des coudes à en voi...

The alarm clock wakes me at 6, and I walk out to the hotels' yard right on time for the train. The gate is closed, but I find a sleeping garçon (probably some 50 years ole one) in the reception. He opens the gate - did you pay? - he askes. Of course - I reply and take a riksha to the station. I'm way ahead of time. And the train is getting late....

The strike finished just as my Nepali visa was running out so I headed off back to India, I was a little sad to leave David and the locals of Sauraha, I'd had a great time with them. I took the earliest bus to Sonauli knowing that it would be a race against time to get to Gohrakpur in time to catch the last train to Varanasi, I didn’t make...

We set off early this morning to catch a bus to Bickarawa. That was a more crazy bus than any so far in India. It was a local bus and they seriously could not squash any more people on to it. There were people on every seat, including squashed right next to the driver, and sitting with their backs to each other on the same seat where there were ...

For our last night in Nepaland in honour of Omar and Tanja the marmouts, we went out to a renovated house for a 12 course traditional Newari dinn** that turned out to be a glorified dhaal bhaat with traditional danc**s twirling around with pots on their heads. The wait**s w**e all snobs and when we left we got into an arguement with all 20 cycle...

No more camera so words will have to suffice for the rest of our travels!

After an exhausting 10hr bus journey to the Nepalise border, having been stopped by a 2hr 'bandhi' (strike) along the road, we crossed into India relatively painlessly, helped by 2 rickshaw drivers who dumped us by some phone shop on the other side where we were off...

To be fair to the city we didn't see much of Gorakhpur. This was just a stepping stone across the border to Nepal, we got off the train and crossed the road to our 'Hotel!?' if you can call it that.
