Glendalough Hotels - Reviews and Rates

This was our second take on a Sunday trip to Wicklow County (well for me and Roisin anyway). We wanted to wait until Max had a day off for our next attempt!

Day 2 (Sun-11/18): ate HUGE breakfast while enjoying dance teams eating their pre-performance breakfast. Had our first look at "black and white pudding". Second stop at Glendalough, an early Christian monastic site founded in the 6th century. Set at the Wicklow Mountains National Park, in a glaciated valley with two lakes, the monastic remains include a superb round tower, stone churches and graveyard with decorated crosses.

Today we set out for Glendalough...which means "valley of 2 lakes" in Irish Gaelic. It is set in County Wicklow. Emmmmmm....so we set out by car, driving the winding tiny roads past farmhouses and pastures of sheep...to the Wicklow mountains (which is a bit south of the Dublin area). Incredible beauty!
