So, since we last posted we have been spending time in the stunning Sri Lankan countryside, high up in the mountains. We had a great time in Kandy - which is the main city in this area, went out and visited the Pinnewala Elephant orphanage - which was great...although they have turned it into bit more of a tourist attraction than we imagined it ...

We left Unawatuna at 6am to emabark on a 7.5 hour journy involving 2 crazy buses! The second buses we got was an intercity bus (smaller with air con) from Matara. I saw a sign saying max capcity 18 and after half an hour of picking people up we had closer to 32. With one wee stop in 5.5 hours, migit scale leg room and Sri Lanka's best pot holes ...
