... Capricorn High school where 5 of the 6 of us went to school. Godwin our waiter was fantastic and kept the food and drinks flowing. ... and tried to give my feet a rest as the full day of walking has tortured them severely. Since I still have a valid metro pass, I considered returning to Dubai mall to have dinner but the amount of foot blisters I've accumulated convinced me otherwise. Instead I walked to a nearby local restaurant where I asked for a smoked turkey sandwich but unfortunately ended up with a smoked salmon one. At dinner we had 2 new table mates Gordon and Sue who will be staying until the end of the cruise at Southampton.
After dinner we attended the Ballroom dancing with the band playing early tonight. We managed one of each dance and then retired for the night. This evening we sailed out of Dubai heading for Muscat in Oman which we should reach by 1100 tomorrow, pirates permitting.
After a 14 hour flight that passed
over the North Pole, I've safely landed in Dubai and have reached my hotel. Not
a bad start to things when they tell you at reception that you've been upgraded
to the Executive Suite, I'm going to feel like a regular Dubai princess by the
end of this. It's 930P and I'm going to take advantage of my backwards internal
clock to shower then go see some sights and do a little nightlife, starting
with that wacky ...
... like having half dozen main "downtown" or "city center" areas. But many of them seem to have a single purpose such as Internet City, Marina City, or whatever they have named it, commerce, banking, whatever. And in each area of specialization and sky scrappers, there are hotels and malls and restaurants galore.
