Travel Blogs from Amsterdam
Last weekend Joan,
Sarah, and I headed to the much talked about city of Amsterdam! Even
though we didn't sample any of the coffeeshops and only saw a bit of
the Red Light District, we still had a great time. Friday afternoon
we wandered around the Dom Square saw many street performers and even< …
I tried to cut and paste this from wordpad. It's not working too well. Please excuse the run on paragraphs.
We finally have some downtime......we are on the bus headed towards Germany. Amsterdam was very busy. Laurie went to so many museums I can't remember them all! It has been an interesting place to visit. We arrived at Schiepol …
... the displays. Not sure i can say that it was an enjoyable experience, but we are glad we did it. I would have to say that en route we realised we were now walking in the Red light district!
At sea between Starvanger and Amsterdam
After an interesting night at sea, boy we must have been in some rough seas. During the night, could hear the waves splashing along the side of the ship and then at one point, we must have hit a good wave because there was an almighty crash, sounded like pots and pans falling off a table. Seemed to settle down a bit after that.
In the morning, the captain apologised ...
... was like buying goods over the counter. Also walking past a cafe to see all sorts of ages from young to old lighting up a joint was still quite strange for us to see and get use to, but I have to admit everyone was in a good mood, chilled could even say they were on a good buzz. Yesterday we walked around the town more, but feeling a bit peckish we thought we might try some space cake. Why not its Amsterdam right and we had never had it before so ...
How has this hotel rated in the past?
we've stayed in easyhotel in london. this was our second. it's a new property, and the rooms are around 3 times bigger than our london easy hotel. as with all easy hotels, impeccably clean, and well located right on the tram line. one of our favorite amsterdam sites...the albert cyupps market, was just down the street....a definite must do.
it has a glass shower as part of the room, with storage for luggage or packs under the bed. the internet was 7.50 euros per day. it is exceptionally fast, with the fastest upload speeds i've ever seen. they have lockers in the front lobby for storage if you're too early to check in or don't leave town until later in the day and need to store your luggage. i think it was 5 euros for a locker for 24 hours.
i would definitely stay again. for amsterdam, the rate is exceptionally cheap. the neighborhood was great and very safe. remember it's not the hilton. and if you can do that.....you'll do great there.
