... work for the span of only one week. On November 2, in an early morning conversation, the weather router agreed that a November 4 departure seemed one of the better options for that week and the 4-5 day sail the crossing would entail. Bob quickly arranged flights that day for his crew to arrive at Norfolk the following afternoon. We spent the balance of the day on shopping ventures with Bob to include WalMart, Lowe's, and a ...
Norfolk, Virginia, United States pas_de_deux... Mount Trashmore got rained out. So those two were duds, forcing Josh to make 17th Street's Dawn of the Shred Josh's first competition, which mounted the pressures even more on him, and losing his chance for a prize.
Now I'm in the process of looking for more local competition in this month of November, so Josh can warm up and practice his wares, and nerves of steel, and bring his ...
... Creek October 25 for Willoughby Bay. Sailed on main and jib in N 15-25. Our White Magic hit bottom just before the channel outbound from Jackson Creek but successfully backed off. Unfortunately, we were following them and distracted by their situation, so we ended up running aground ourselves! We were seriously caught and were fortunate to be pulled off by Our White Magic. Otherwise would have spent hours kedging and waiting for high tide. Once departed ...
Norfolk, Virginia, United States pas_de_deux... I'm going to keep writing that style and editing from this point on, to give it a decent polished look abouts. There is a lot of catching up to do, before my memory fade away from me from age of time. Today is the day after Travis's birthday, which is how late I'm catching up, for those in the know... more details should be in the third entry..
As I was saying earlier, Aaron was celebrating his birthday ...
... something large was hooked up. It was a white marlin and I mean that fast it was hooked, to the boat, picture taken and release before anybody had even drawn to see who would take the first fish.
We quickly set the fishing order and it was "on" all day long as we caught white marlin after white marlin for many hours before ...
... Beans helmet. After a word with the sheriff deputies that patrolled the event, the tempers were diffused. That other kid eventually just walked out of the park and went home. He never competed. We called that kid the "****** off Jellybean." Just as Josh was warming up and practicing his signature trick, a Backside Bigflip (a 180 body varial with a 360 flip) , the rain just opened the faucets, and poured so fast within seconds the ...
First Landing State Park, Virginia, United States rickjosh... We headed over the south tunnel then back via the north tunnel, flying the spinnaker for the run toward the Hampton Bay Bridge tunnel in winds up to 20 kts. Good thing we had Pete along to help douse the spinnaker which can be challenging in high winds!
During the remainder of the month, Dave replaced the suction and discharge filter housings on the watermaker. Apparently some air leakage prevented the watermaker from developing full pressure and ...
... visited a nearby marina and toured a custom boat named Chanty. A gorgeous piece of work. On September 11 we motored to the North River on Mobjack for a change of scenery, admiring the homes on the river bank including that of Chanty’s owner. The following day we returned to Willoughby Harbor Marina in light NW wind and flew our new secondary spinnaker. The color combination is quite wild but the sail flies well!
Norfolk, Virginia, United States pas_de_deux... or electronics. I do most all the work myself and I know if its done right. But this takes time and lots of hours.
I have to also credit my wife Sue who does substantial amouts of work planning our food and drink requirements. We seldom rent cars and only go to marina’s once a week or so. Now and then we find a convient grocery store and find one we can get to via public transportation but the more staples we have ...
