... geographic north pole and then returned to North Pole, Alaska. The town is very thematic with street names like Mistletoe Lane, Donner Drive, St. Nicholas Street, etc. I also saw an old homestead cabin.<br><br>On the way back to Fairbanks, I saw a "moose on the loose" by the side of the road. It would be like seeing deer in NY.<br><br>Christina and I spend the rest of the afternoon doing laundry and getting ready for a big trip to Kenai tomorrow.<br>

... interesting, especially if you like birds/nature. The people in the visitor center are very nice; they loan binoculars and mosquito spray. Thank goodness for the bug spray; mega mosquitoes! The trails are very good. We walked the trail to where the birds were being banded to track their migratory patterns. ... friends over in Thailand and I have connections to possibly go on a more specialized team suited to my abilities in the future. I thank God for the chance to have gone on this trip. I would encourage anyone that wants an introductory-style mission trip to see what is going on over there and where they can help out, to consider this annual short-term trip. Allow God to use you to the best of the abilities that He has blessed you with.

Our return drive was partially in the dark, but was lighted by a beautiful, bright, full moon surrounded by sparkling stars in a clear sky. We made a couple of toilet stops, and even enjoyed some steaming noodles and Chinese tea at one stop to warm us up. Then it was onto Mae Sot to our hotel for a good night's sleep.

Is it a tad too eccentric to be packed over a month before a trip because you're just so excited? I was ok when I was still planning things, researching hotels, figuring out what we want to do, and ordering clothing/bags/guidebooks, etc. But once everything was "taken care of" I got a little restless. I'm excited about our trip and want to be doing something to prepare for it, to make it seem like it will be here sooner. I know ...

... in a petrafied wood bear that had been handcarved in Alaska for a reasonable price. I was looking at some Russian nesting dolls and almost gave in, but decided the reasonable price must be a sign of cheapness. After some consideration and persuasion toward Kevin to go back, I had my beautiful Russian doll and my totem poll. I was delighted. I was even more delighted by the gift of Kevin's family when they found out how much I liked Russian nesting dolls.
